    Abstract

    Subject of architecture is image and subject of poetry is word. The most fundamental commonality of these two arts is imagination. Throughout history, this common foundation has led to a wonderful and interconnected relationship between literature and architecture. In this article, knowing that literature and architecture arts are semantically related, they have attempted to examine comparatively the cultural, social, and economic changes in the historical structure of Persian architecture and poetry. To identify the effectiveness and influence of art and architecture styles in that historical period and determine degree of similarity and commonality. Therefore, the Safavid era was chosen as historical period of research because it has beco

    Generative Design Workflow for Seismic-Efficient Architectural Design of Tall Buildings; A Multi-object Optimization approach

    Journal Paper , 2021 January , {Pages }

    Abstract

    Designing tall buildings are influenced by several criteria that may have different levels of impact on its architectural form. Today, the wide variety of social requirements for commercial or aesthetic purposes [1] and the power of Computer Aided Architectural Design (CAAD) tools result in tall buildings with complex forms. On the other hand, tall building architectural form is mostly determining how earthquake forces distribute throughout the building height and plan which would significantly affect how structural members would respond to that force. Seismic provisions and guidelines divide buildings into regular and irregular categories based on their forms and recommend avoiding irregularity to ensure a better overall seismic performanc

    Abstract

    Aim: New technology has already changed our interpretation of Persian house. Theory of integration in the high-performance architecture theory shows that the different elements of Iranian house enjoy unity, despite their differences. The research aims to study the most important elements of Persian house based on Islamic-Iranian life style based on a holistic approach.Methods: The purposive sampling method is developed among the case from the central parts of Iran such as Isfahan, Kashan, Yazd and Ardakan; in order to calculate the area, the module and the period of building the house. Research tool was scientific documentation and survey. The data analysis is based on descriptive-analytical understanding of mathematical space syntax.Findin

    Abstract

    Despite the increasing knowledge about city branding and city identity, there is a fundamental gap in the understanding of city branding among professionals with respect to the relations between Quality of Life (QOL), Economic Improvement Districts (EIDs) and Lighting Branding (LB). This exploratory study is aimed to address this knowledge gap through in-depth interviews with 41 professionals. The results of the study suggest that the strategic potential of LB has positive effects on city nocturnal identity, QOL, and EIDs. In this study, these factors were analysed using ten types of different buildings separately. The findings of the study reveal that attention to the lighting of traditional and old buildings, recreational facilities, comm

    Abstract

    The golden number has been one of the most important measures of beauty from ancient Greece till now. Although the reason still unclear, it is certain that the golden ratio has a direct correlation with beauty. This nice feeling can come from listening to a musical piece or watching a visual art, which is based on this wondrous number. Although the golden number is more suitable from beauty or harmony’s perspective, for some researches it is a requirement to develop Architectural designs. Therefore, in this article a masterpiece (Shah-mosque Isfahan) was investigated to find its golden relations. This mosque was chosen because of the precise and harmonious proportions. In this research: plan, sections, facade and decorations of ceiling ti

    Challenges of Management System in Temporary Accommodation after Natural Disasters in Iran From Gilan-Zanjan Earthquake (1990) to Kermanshah Earthquake (2017)

    Abstract

    Many countries in the world have experienced different sorts of disasters and consequently have suffered large losses of life and property. After disasters, there are three possible scenarios: in the first scenario, available (current) accommodation is not ruined, as a result no gap will be created; the second scenario declares that the current housing is ruined and the available gap will be filled by reconstruction of permanent housing, and the last scenario states that the current housing is ruined and the available gap will be filled by temporary shelters till the construction of permanent housings are fulfilled.Our country always has been exposed to different natural disasters. Temporary housing, in some disasters, has been considered a

    Abstract

    Every phenomenon in the world has multiple levels of meaning, from shape or external appearance, to semantic, moral or spiritual features. Recognizing and understanding these levels depends on peoples’ ideology. In the design discipline, buildings have also levels of meaning, since architectural forms indicate shapes and express meanings in various levels. Accordingly it is an important point for designers to gain an understanding of different ways to express meanings. Allegory is one the different ways to express meanings in disciplines such as literature and art. This article aims to explain the role of allegory and its applications in architecture. Thereupon allegories' characteristics in different fields were reviewed to fill the theo
