Electrical & Computer Engineering

The Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Tarbiat Modares University provides for specialization in MSc and PhD levels for two decades in many areas including biomedical engineering, computer engineering, communications, control, electronics, power systems, and also, inter-departmental efforts include joint curriculum development in IT Engineering (E-commerce and ICT) offered in collaboration with Industrial Eng. Department in Faculty of Engineering.

The ECE Faculty has strong research ties with industry and has significantly increased its collaborations and joint planning activities in recent years. These interactions support departmental research efforts, and provide graduate students with relevant experience with leading-edge technology. Departmental facilities include more than twenty research laboratories featuring state-of-the-art equipment that is continually updated through both university investments and external grant support. This Faculty has obtained several strategic grants for developing research laboratories in Optoelectronics, VLSI, satellite communications, and power systems. Faculty involvement in funded research continues to grow, and extramural funding has reached approximately $4M in fiscal year 2013-2014.

Graduate Programs:

Our graduate programs aim to develop an understanding of the scientific basis of critical technologies, and prepare students to apply state-of-the-art analysis and design methods to integrated electronics, Optoelectronics, control, communications, computer systems, biomedical engineering, and software and hardware engineering problems. PhD and M.Sc degrees are offered.

The faculty has strong research programs as described in the followings.

  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Communications
  • Electronics
  • Computer Engineering, Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Control Systems
  • Power Systems and Power Electronics
Faculty Requirement:

We invite applications for tenure faculty positions from strong candidates in the areas of Computer Engineering, Communication, Control, Power Electronics and IT. All candidates should have a demonstrated promise for excellence in research and in teaching. Applicants should send a copy of a vita by email, along with a statement of plans for research and teaching, and name of three references. Evaluation of all candidates will begin as soon as we receive the documents and will continue until the position is filled.
