Safty Checklist for Lab User

 
  • Do you wash your hands before leaving the lab?
  • Do you wear appropriate lab coat, safety goggles, gloves, shoes, ..., in the lab?
  • Are the appropriate hazard signs and emergency numbers present in the lab?
  • Are all containers in your lab properly labeled? Do you know how to interpret these labels?
  • Are the chemicals in your lab properly stored?
  • Have you been instructed how to properly use and handle materials in your laboratory?
  • Are you aware of the locations and use of safety devices (safety showers, eye washes, lab hoods, ...) in your lab?
  • Are you aware of emergency procedures in the event of chemical exposure, spill, fire or explosion?
  • Do you know how to properly segregate and dispose of chemicals you use in your lab?
  • Are all electrical/mechanical controls (e.g. fume hoods) operating properly in your lab?
  • Do you know who to notify, if working in a lab alone after normal hours?
  • Have you attended lab specific training provided by your lab supervisor?
