    Journal PapersTeaching and Learning Research , 2021 February 7, {Pages }

    Abstract

    The purpose of this study was to combine the volitional strategies and messages with motivational design in e-learning and its effectiveness on student’s cognitive load and volitional dimensions. In order to achieve this goal, a mixed method - convergent triangulation design - was used. The statistical population of this study was students of Shahid Modares campus of Farhangian university of Kurdistan. In the quantitative phase, a quasi-experimental design with a control group was used. In this regard, firstly, three classes with a capacity of 85 students selected through available sampling method and then randomly one class assigned to experimental and two classes assigned to control group. In the qualitative section, 9 people were selec

    Journal Papersjiera , Volume 14 , Issue 50, 2020 September 22, {Pages 127-142 }

    Abstract

    The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the minimalism theory on learning and retention of learners in IT courses. Minimalist Theory consists of a basic framework that combines self-directed learning activities with technology, which emphasizes the importance of the real activities and experiences of learning. This theory supports the rapid achievement of real and practical goals at the beginning of education and emphasizes the importance of designing for identifying and correcting learning errors as a training principle. The research method was quasi-experimental with the control group. The participants included 40 undergraduate students in psychology who studied at the Allameh Tabataba'i University School of Psychology

    Journal PapersEducation Strategies in Medical Sciences , Volume 12 , Issue 3, 2019 August 10, {Pages 21-30 }

    Abstract

    MethodsWe used a questionnaire to assess empathy of students. Similar samples are classified in one cluster. Then clusters can be labeled based their attributes. In this work we present labels for students due to their empathy measures. We used a teacher-reported questionnaire to assess learning behavior of students.ResultsA meaningful relation was realized between empathy scores and learning behaviors in the classroom for boy students. There is a reverse relationship between empathy and learning behaviors.ConclusionA cultural analysis has been performed for the obtained results. Apathetic clusters usually have a cognitive component if they are not fully apathetic. Cognitive component is determinative in learning behavior.

    Abstract

    Digital gamification has been argued to be a fun and enjoyable method to support Learning English as a Second Language (LESL) and to ease the gap between students’ learning and educational practice. This systematic review presents an overview of the state of the art on the use of gamification for LESL in digital environments. Furthermore, this review study maps learning experiences of learners and their learning outcomes when they deal with LESL through gamification. For this systematic review, 22 publications dating from 2008 through 2019 were studied to highlight the foci of this field of research. Although, these studies reported positive effects of gamification on learners’ learning experiences and their learning outcomes, none of t

    Journal PapersJournal of Constructivist Psychology , 2019 July 25, {Pages 16-Jan }

    Abstract

    The present article aimed to compare the effectiveness of two approaches—systematic and constructivist instructional design models—in communicating legal knowledge to students. Three instructional models have been tried in this investigation. Both of them were designed with systematic approach and one of them with constructivism approach. The effectiveness of the two approaches was measured with regard to four variables: learning, retention, satisfaction, and students’ attitude toward the courses. The results indicated that the learning and retention rate, as well as students’ positive attitude toward the courses, were considerably higher in constructivist instructional design models compared to the systematic ones.

    This study investigates the effects of collaborative e-learning environment supported by peer feedback and argumentative instruction on students’ argumentative writing, argumentative feedback and domain-specific knowledge acquisition in the field of educational sciences. The population of the study was all bachelor students of educational sciences at Kharazmi University in Karaj in which 36 students were randomly selected as a sample and were assigned to either experimental (with instruction) or control group (without instruction) in a pre-and posttest design. They were then divided over 18 dyads and were asked to write and argumentative essay, engage in argumentative peer feedback with their learning partner, and then revise their essay

    Abstract

    To present a framework for compassionate teaching, the views of teachers and students on the topic were sought. These informants were chosen from among their corresponding populations in Tehran, using the snowball and mixed methods. Semi-structured interviews were used to gather the needed data. To analyze the data open coding and descriptive categorization were utilized. Results show that from the teachers’ perspective the design of compassion-based teaching has two general methods one that emphasizes cooperation and student-centeredness, while the other is goal-oriented and emphasizes lack of flexibility and unnecessary designing. In students’ view, teacher’s bi-dimensional role is separated from that of the student. The moral dimen

    Abstract

    Reflection on teaching is a known method of learning to teach. Reflection is a form of thinking wherein improvement is sought through self-observation. Recent approaches to teaching practicums have gravitated towards reflective ones. However, there are no exact models for the design and implementation of reflection-based practicum. In this study with a social constructivist perspective, the validity of one such model is explored. The basic elements of the instructional situation, ie conditions, methods, and results, along with the implementation stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation constitute the chosen model. A group of 5 educational technologists initially studied the model from an instructional design p

    Abstract

    Introduction Peer feedback is one of the promising educational strategy to improve students’ argumentative essay writing. However, resently, researchs have indicated that imlicit approach (Scripts and prompts) in online peer feedback environment improved student’s academic writing skills, these approaches bring some issues. More resently researches for solving this issues propose explicit approaches (sach as instruction and worked example). On the base, this study investigates the effects of online peer feedback environment with argumentation training on students’ learning process (argumentative feedback quality) and outcomes (argumentative essay quality and domain-specific knowledge acquisition) in the field of educational sciences.

    Abstract

    Introduction Regarding the affordances of an online learning environments, it is expected that such environments facilitate teaching and learning processes and increase higher-order thinking skills, especially critical thinking skills. However, evidence suggests that many of online learning courses are designed in ways that do not carry the required capacity to enhance higher order thinking skills such as t critical thinking skills. The purpose of this study is to design and validate a model for reinforcing students' critical thinking skills in an online learning environment. Method The present study uses a mixed-method research approach including content analysis and survey. The content analysis focused on a corpus of all research arti

    Abstract

    Gaining the attention is the first key step to enhance learning. In Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) as the most prevalent deficit in school age, the learners face some impairment in attention that requires appropriate intervention. An environment that embedded Pedagogical Agent in computer-assisted instruction (CAI) has been designed to support learning through gaining and guiding attention to relevant information for these students. This study investigated how much the presence of pedagogical agent can improve learning in ADHD students. The learning environment was integrated with a pedagogical agent, named Koosha, as a tutor and motivator. This study employed a pretest and posttest experimental design with a c

    Abstract

    Background: Empathy is a skill that has been proved effective in learning and teaching processes. Objectives: The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between students’ empathy and their learning behaviors. Methods: A fuzzy clustering-based method (an area of artificial intelligence) was used, according to which students were classified to clusters based on their empathy measures. Students’ empathy was assessed through a questionnaire. Overall, 345 students (11 to 13 years old) from six schools located in three different areas of Tehran, Iran, participated in this study, selected by multistage cluster sampling. In this method, similar samples are classified in one cluster and, then, clusters can be labeled based on their at
