      • Developing a model for setting speed limits within speed zones
This model uses geometrical design, traffic count, and rural zonal land-use to estimate appropriate speed limits in Iranian rural roads. The model calibrated using data gathered over 220 sample sections of rural roads in Iran. In this data gathering more than 30 attributes of roads related to geometrical design, traffic counting and zonal land-use are collected. The most effective attributes are identified using different statistical methods and then the model is structured.
      • Traffic Counting Program for Rural Roads
This project deals with the traffic counting program in which both permanent and short-term traffic counts for Iran rural road are proposed. Main objective of this program is to obtain traffic count data from all possible roads while optimizing the application of available sources. This program is proposed based on a linear programming (LP) model. The LP method uses annual average daily traffic (AADT) and monthly traffic standard deviation (MSTD) as the inputs and determines the roads that should be permanently surveyed or the roads that should be surveyed over a short-term period. The frequencies of short-term traffic counts on selected road are also specified.
      • Speed Enforcement Camera Located in Iran Roads
To efficiently install speed enforcement cameras, an integer linear programming (ILP) in which the monitored vehicle-kilometer (number of vehicle product by travelled distance) is maximized, is established. ILP constraints allow decision-makers to evaluate different policies.
