Hircani forests are a green strip, length 850 km. Hirkani forests are also called Living fossils or natural museums, because many of the plant species found in these forests are now found in fossils in Europe.
Scientific evidence suggests that the historical record of these forests dates back to the third juniper period (Jurassic), or the era of dinosaurs. The significance of this long history becomes clear when it comes to the fact that during the ice age, except for the Hyrcanian forests that had a more moderate climate due to their location between the Alborz and the Caspian Sea (Mazandaran Sea), all broadleaved forests were destroyed except for a few; Hence the Hirkani forests are the mother of the young forests of Europe and North America. More than 80 broad-leaved tree species, four species of leaf needles and 50 shrub species have been identified in.
