Range Management


 

The Rangeland Management Department began work in 1989. Since its foundation, this department has offered master programs in Natural Resources Engineering- Rangeland Management branch.
The Department of Rangeland Management aims to promote the department in terms of education and research, by creating new disciplines and relying on new methods for research on rangeland ecology, rangeland management and rehabilitation of arid and semi-arid areas and medicinal and industrical plants.
This departments has laboratory to analyse seed, plant functional traits, plant biochemistry and phytochemistry, soil analysis, plant biotechnology.
Rangeland Management department have three main branches including Rangeland Management, Rangeland Restoration and Medicinal Plants for master degree and offer PhD degree in Rangeland science field since 2017. Rangeland Management department are coping with several institutes and university worldwide now. This department has international collaborations and research projects specially with France, Spain and Germany.
The main Research and Educational aim can be briefly described as follows:

  • Functional ecology of arid and mountain habitats
  • Rangeland assessment and management
  • Having specialized laboratories for plant quality and plant functional traits and soil analysis
  • Research field and long term monitoring in mountain grasslands, Golestan National Park
  • Ecology of saline, marl and hyper arid habitats
  • Restoration and conservation of degraded rangelands
  • Climate change and land use change
  • Medicinal plants study
  • Social and economic studies
