Message of the Departments Head

At first I welcome you to the horticulture departments webpage. Considering the importance of horticulture as the art, science and knowledge of plant production, our department is eager to embrace the responsibility of educating the next generation of horticultural scientists to teach in other universities and research centers of Iran. Due to the aesthetic nature of horticultural science, it not only fulfills human needs, but also should be considered from its aesthetic aspect too. Though, human beings can survive without horticultural products, yet the consumption of an apple or resting on meadow under the shade of a tree can make life more enjoyable. The use of horticultural products like fruits or vegetables or the use of them as an ornamental plant in the design of parks and green spaces plays a significant role in the physical and mental health of the community. Nowadays, horticultural scientists are trying to introduce high quality fruit and vegetable.
Our faculty members work as members and managers of several associations of horticultural expertise such as the Iranian Horticultural Society and the Iranian Ornamental Flower and Plant Association. In addition, in order to educate the graduates and doctoral students of the horticultural sciences, there is a strong relationship and cooperation between the faculty members of the department and domestic and foreign universities and research centers. We also look forward to expanding our bilateral cooperation in order to foster the scientific progress of the departments.
