Agricultural Economics


 

The Agricultural Economics Department of Tarbiat Modares University began its main mission in 1986 with the admission of graduate students. As a part of its mission, which was the training of instructors and professors for the universities of Iran, today, the majority of professors engaged in the field of agricultural economics are the graduates of this department. The founder of this department at the University was late Dr. Musanezhad. For the first time in Iran, this department set up a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics in 1990. The majority of faculty members all over the country are graduates of this department.

Departments Educational Interests:

The main focus of this department concerns conducting education and research for the expansion of agricultural economics. Considering the nature of agricultural economics, the scope of the scientific activities of this department goes beyond purely agricultural activities, and covers all related fields including: the economy of production, agricultural policy and development, marketing, agricultural management, international trade, the economy of natural resources and environment etc...

Sub-disciplines:

The department presently offers four sub-disciplines in agricultural economics at master and Ph.D. levels including: agricultural policy and development, the economy of production and management of agricultural units, the marketing of agricultural products and the economy of natural resources and the environment.

Graduates Qualifications:

During their two-year education at graduate level, students acquire the abilities necessary for scientific, statistical and comparative studies of the application of the principles of economics in the field of agricultural businesses. After graduation, they can be hired as lecturer, researcher, planner, analyst and evaluator.
During their education, PhD students will get familiar with the latest scientific developments in their field. In this course, students should master the scientific subjects in their fields of study, submit their scientific and research findings to solve the national problems and foster the scientific independence of the country and get ready for teaching and researching in other universities / research and educational centers.
Ph.D. Graduates will be able to provide valuable services for private and public sectors, such as university professors, researcher in research centers, consultant and project designer in private and public organizations, director of agricultural and natural resources development programs and planners at micro and macro level.
