Dr. Merivan Şaşmaz graduated with a B.Sc in the Physics Department at Inonu University, Turkey, in 2007. She holds two M.Sc degrees, specializing in ferromagnetic shape memory alloys for her first M.Sc, completed in 2010. During this period, she engaged in research activities at Pierre and Marie Curie University (Paris) for magnetic measurements. Subsequently, she explored Magnetoelastic Properties of Magnetic and Metamagnetic Shape Memory Alloys. Her second M.Sc in new materials was earned at the Basque Country University, Spain, in 2012-2013.

In 2015, Dr. Şaşmaz achieved her Ph.D. in Nanotechnology at Fırat University, Turkey. Her dissertation, titled 'Production and Characterization of Graphene-Doped Nanocomposite Materials,' demonstrated her expertise in the field.

As an accomplished researcher, Dr. Şaşmaz has led numerous internally supported and recognized projects. Notably, she contributed to research on shell ferromagnetism and magnetocaloric properties of Heusler Alloys between September 2018 and January 2020 at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, supported by the DAAD German Academic Exchange Service and TÜBİTAK (Turkey). From January to December 2022, she played a key role in the University of South-Eastern Norway as a project management member for the Horizon2020 U-space separation in Europe (USEPE) project.

Her contributions extend to over 40 abstract books, peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals, and active participation as a referee in international journals, conferences, and committees. Additionally, she has edited seven books spanning fundamental sciences to engineering fields.

Currently, Dr. Şaşmaz serves as an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Adiyaman University Faculty of Engineering.
