The electric power industry is evolving from its historical business structure. Under the restructured environment, new challenging problems are also raised; although, the basic function of the industry / i . e/ producing and delivering power in a safe and reliable manner, has not changed. To fulfill, the needs of electric power industry, IPSERC:

• Is engaged in forward-thinking about future scenarios for the industry and the challenges that might arise from them
• Contacts research for innovative solution to these challenges
• Facilitates interchange of ideas and collaboration among academic and industry on critical industry issues.
• Train the power engineering experts. Over the past four years of its establishment, IPSERC has performed in such a way that more than 38 national and regional projects are either finished or underway, some others are under negotiation.
