Introduction
Department of Arabic language and literature in Tarbiat Modares University is one of the first departments that started its activity since the University was stablished. Dr. Firooz Harirchi was Frist director of department. In the beginning only students were able to continue their studies in master level and after a while it was possible to absorb them in Ph.d. at the peresent students accept in both levels annually.
Department of Arabic literature of Tarbiat Modares University is unique department that was established in Mehr 1387. At the present 15 students are studying in this major. Also department of teaching of Arabic language was approved and will undettake students in this subject from Mehr 1389.
The department of Arabic language and literature accept students in Ph.d level, and department of Arabic literature is in master level.
Purpose
The aim of this group is training students to become as afaculty members and experts in Arabic literature field. Alsopreparingthem to practice their professions competently to meet the ever-changing needsof society, and to continue learning their discipline, allowing them to moveinto other related fields. Nowadays webelieve that themission can only be fulfilled by directing our efforts optimally to achieve thefollowing aims:
· training of students in the master's and Ph.D level as faculty members
· enhance knowledge of humanity science
· cooperationwith Arabic scientific andcultural centers in Middle East.
Directors
Professor Firouz Harirchi was the first president of Arabic department since the beginning until 1379. After Professor Khalil Parvini accepted this responsibility from 1379 to 1387. At the present the director of department is professor Isa Motaqi Zadeh .
