Mining department of Tarbiat Modares University (TMU) was established in 1993. For first time in Iran, Rock Mechanic and Mineral processing courses were offered in the level of MS by TMV. Also, Mining extaction group was started later. Mining department of Tarbiat Modares University during this years has  educated experienced graduates that they have employed in various mines and dependent industries. Mining department has accepted phD students in rock mechanics and mineral processing courses since 2006.

The mining department has 11 full time professors and 7 part time professors that teach about 25 students evry years in MSc and PhD. Levels. Most important activities of this department the first and second rock mechanis conferens and the  first mining engineering conferens of Iran at 2005, 2007 and 2008 respectively.
