Education is a lifelong process that does not end in any specific field of knowledge. It unfolds and spreads widely and is encompassed by individuals and societies. It is not just one skill to learn or even a set of facts to be obtained or to be purchased.
In our modern world of massive global interaction, international education and the subsequent cooperation of persons with an integrated world view are essential to the successful continuation of human civilization and its evolutionary improvement.
Human challenges are not confined to national borders, but are common globally. In this milieu, only international education will adequately prepare us to meet future personal and social challenges.
With the mission of training academic staff and researchers required by universities and centers of higher education, Tarbiat Modares University (TMU) was founded in 1982 within a short period after victory of the Islamic revolution in Iran.
Pursuing its mission, TMU endeavors to provide an appropriate educational setting for the training of highly-professional and competent candidates from all walks of life. It also establishes close academic ties with distinguished home and foreign institutions on the basis of mutual agreements, publishes books and journals, and holds national and international meetings and conferences.
As a postgraduate university, TMU offers Masters degree in 134 academic disciplines and Ph.D. degree in 94 scientific branches, with 4100 and 1687 students in each level, respectively. At present, TMU encompasses 7 faculties and 14 affiliated research centers.
I am proud to add that in the national level TMU is among the few universities which are ranked as the center of excellence.
To fulfill its global mission, we established our international campus at Noor in 2007.Noor is located in the northern province of Mazandaran, on the beautiful southern coast of the Caspian seaand is one of fastest growing cities in Iran.
Advanced teaching approaches, the superb competence of the university faculties, the careful screening and selection of qualified students, and the continuous assessment of programs are the basis of our vibrant and expanding university.
We believe that the best way to fulfill the needs and potentials of individuals and society is to make education responsive to personal aspirations. At TMU, we have established a strong bond between the faculty and the students at all levels with the aim of conducting the students to harmonize their personal scientific interests with the requirements that exist in the outside world. Our University strives for flexibility but not at the expense of quality. The curricula at TMU motivate the students to make a concerted effort to work hard while encouraging their personal qualities to blossom.
The journey will continue and we will, with the help of Allah, work towards providing our youth with an education of the highest possible standard while fulfilling the needs of our society.
