Founded in 1988, the Biomedical Engineering group was among the first to offer graduate degrees in the discipline, and are consistently ranked among the top in the nation. Biomedical Engineering at TMU applies fields of engineering, science and mathematics that relate to

  • Biomedical signal and image processing,
  • The fundamentals of the modern imaging modalities,
  • The cutting-edge algorithms of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the development of tools for disease diagnosis, prognosis, and theragnosis.
  • Design and development of biomedical instruments.

The Biomedical Ultrasound Group at TMU was founded in 2001 to bridge the gap between researches in ultrasound theory and medical physics with the front line users in the clinics and hospitals. By publishing highly cited papers in the most prestigious journals and collaborating with the leading research teams around the world, the Biomedical Ultrasound Group is one of the frontiers in the fields of ultrasound signal processing and ultrasound beamforming.
