Journal PaperClinical and Experimental Obstetrics & Gynecology , Volume 48 , Issue 1, 2021 February 15, {Pages 110-116 }

Abstract

Introduction: In order to manage labor pain, one of the non-pharmacological approaches is immersive virtual reality (VR). This study aimed to evaluate the impact of immersive VR analgesia on labor pain, anxiety and nausea in nulliparous women. Methods: In this interventional study, 52 nulliparous women with a single fetus who expected vaginal delivery were randomly assigned to a VR group (n= 26) and a control group (n= 26). 4 women excluded from the study due to the desire for medical intervention for pain control. A simulated environment (containing nature scenes and sounds) was presented to the women in the VR group. Pain intensity, anxiety, and nausea were measured using a questionnaire. The two groups were compared in terms of cognitive

Abstract

Objectives. Considering the advantages of the wearable systems (such as continuous monitoring, ease of installation, and significant efficiency), they can also be used to monitor patients in emergency situations and, particularly, in the ambulance. This study is aimed at specifying, modeling, and evaluating a wearable smart blanket system for monitoring vital signs in emergency circumstances. Method. At first, all the smart blanket system requirements were specified using an author-made questionnaire, and the essential requirements were specified in the software requirements specification format. Such an anticipated smart wearable blanket is then modeled by Unified Modeling Language. Finally, the most important quality attributes (i.e., the

Diamond: multi-dimensional indexing technique for medical images retrieval using vertical fragmentation approach

Journal PaperThe Journal of Supercomputing , 2021 January 4, {Pages Jan-60 }

Abstract

Over the last decade, a huge number of medical visual data are widely used for diagnose, treatment, and follow-up. Retrieving needed medical image (s) from a huge number of images is one of the most widely used features in medical information systems, especially in medical image search engines. Indexing as part of search engines (or information retrieval systems), increases the speed (efficiency) of search and the information retrieval process. In this paper, a multidimensional indexing technique for medical images is presented that can improve effectiveness and efficiency of medical image search engines. The structure of the proposed multi-dimensional indexing technique and its main operations (ie., creation, insertion, deletion and search

Journal PaperAdvances in Respiratory Medicine , Volume 89 , Issue 2, 2021 January , {Pages 115-123 }

Abstract

Introduction: Investigations have described a correlation between the severity of heart failure and the severity of pulmonary function abnormalities. In this study, we investigated the association of resting spirometric parameters, lung diffusion for carbon monoxide (DLCO), and the transfer coefficient (KCO) with hemodynamic variables and outcomes in a cohort of heart transplant candidates. Material and methods: Between January 2018 and January 2020, a total of 100 patients with advanced heart failure who were scheduled for right heart catheterization (RHC) as a pre-transplant evaluation measure were enrolled. Spirometry and DLCO were performed in all patients within 24 hours of their RHC. All selected patients were followed for a median (I

Journal PaperKoomesh , Volume 22 , Issue 1, 2020 January 10, {Pages 145-154 }

Abstract

Materials and Methods: In this article, the stages of designing and describing the requirements and the modeling of the ontology-based semantic recommender system of the prescribing physician and the discovery of the ADEs were presented. First, the requirements of the system were extracted and described in detail and then, based on the extracted requirements, the modeling of the system using the Unified Modeling Language of UML2. 0 was discussed. Then, according to the extracted requirements for the discovery of ADEs, a proper ontology was designed for the system and implemented by Prot?g? software. In order to evaluate the functions of recommendation and discovering ADEs (interactions), a prototype was developed using Java language, and a

Design and Review of Virtual Reality (VR) System for Treating Patients with Height and Darkness Phobia

Journal PaperJournal of Payavard Salamat , Volume 13 , Issue 6, 2020 January , {Pages }

Abstract

Materials and Methods: The present paper is the result of a study conducted by searching valid scientific sources including Springer, PubMed and Science Direct (Elsevier), and observing and examining similar virtual reality systems. According to the performed studies, patients enter the virtual reality environment based on their phobia and physician opinion. To assess the effect of phobia, a series of questionnaires are used before and after the test; and using these questionnaires, physicians can evaluate the extent of their patients' recovery.Results: One of the ways to treat phobia is to put the patient in real environment; but in terms of cost and feasibility, it is not possible to provide the environment for physicians and patients in

Abstract

Electronic commerce or e-commerce includes the service and good exchange through electronic support like the Internet. It plays a crucial role in today's business and users' experience. Also, e-commerce platforms produce a vast amount of information. So, Recommender Systems (RSs) are a solution to overcome the information overload problem. They provide personalized recommendations to improve user satisfaction. The present article illustrates a comprehensive and Systematic Literature Review (SLR) regarding the papers published in the field of the e-commerce recommender systems. We reviewed the selected papers to identify the gaps and significant issues of the RSs' traditional methods, which guide the researchers to do future work. So, we pro

Abstract

Tenofovir is an antiviral agent prescribed for patients suffering from hepatitis B. It is associated with some side effects such as reduction in the level of patients’ adherence. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of clinical pharmacist consultation on patients’ adherence to the use of Tenofovir. In this prospective study, a total of 80 patients were enrolled into the study and were divided into two groups. Patients in group one, received their medication in a routine clinic manner, while patients in the second group, by clinical pharmacist intervention, received Tenofovir along with verbal and written tips about the drug dosage, side effects, drug interactions, food-drug interactions and administration. Finally, patients?

Abstract

Introduction: Concomitant onset of active systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and psoriasis is rare; however, due to the common skin involvement in both and exacerbation of psoriasis with antimalarial medications used for SLE, it is crucial to investigate the concomitant occurrence of both diseases.Objectives: The present study aims to investigate the incidence of psoriasis in people with active SLE.Patients and Methods: The present cross-sectional study was performed on 148 patients with active SLE from 2015 to 2017. Lupus activity was evaluated based on systemic lupus erythematosus disease activity index-2K (SLEDAI-2K), and then, the incidence of psoriasis in patients was investigated. Patients’ demographic information was recorded in th

Abstract

Background. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a demyelinating disease of the central nervous system that affects cognitive performance and leads to depression and decreased quality of life (QOL). The current study aims to assess the effects of cognitive rehabilitation versus donepezil therapy on memory, attention, depression, and QOL in MS patients compared to placebo and control groups. Methods. Eighty MS patients were randomly selected from parallel randomized trials and divided into four groups: A: cognitive rehabilitation (10 sessions of 120 minutes), B: control (no intervention), C: donepezil (10 mg daily), and D: placebo. Patients received the intervention for three months. They were assessed for cognitive status, depression, and QOL prior
