Dr. Ali Komak Panah was born in 1954 in Tabriz. He completed his elementary and secondary education in that city and received his diploma from Ferdosy High School in Tabriz. He began working on road construction before the revolution and Jahad-e-Sazendegi after the revolution, but concentrated on designing and manufacturing of the floating war bridges, including the Khebar Bridge, during Iranian defense in war. Then he continued his work in the Ministry of Energy by designing and constructing dams, pipelines and water treatment plants until 1986. He received Ph.D. of Civil Engineering (Geotechnical) in 1990 from Tohoku University of Japan. From the same year, as a member of the faculty of Tarbiat Modares University he taught various courses. Alongside teaching at the university, he was employed several applied researching projects which has provided important services in the country. Establishment of the first soil dynamics laboratory, design and construction of the countrys first roller compacted concrete dam (Jegin dam), the countrys first cable stay bridge (Tabriz and Mashhad cable bridges), and the Tabriz Super Frame Building (Tabriz World Trade Center) with 6 outstanding technologies for the first time in the country are the some of those projects.
