Purpose: Hypertension control is one of the most important healthcare issues in all societies. One way to control high blood pressure is to use antihypertensive medications. Therefore, this research has been done to study the effect of antihypertensive drugs on changing blood pressure, Body Mass Index (BMI) and Framingham Risk Score (FRS).Materials and Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted among 2197 male workers of Mobarakeh steel company follow-up a study on the control of cardiovascular disease of SHIMSCO from January 2014 to January 2019. The case group (n= 642) was hypertensive people who took medications for controlling hypertension and control group (n= 1555) was health people without use any hypertension drug. The c
Objective: Numerous studies demonstrated the effect of grape on memory improvement. According to Iranian traditional medicine, “mavizˮ as a specific type of dried grapes can effectively improve memory. However, there is no reported clinical trial on the effect of “mavizˮ on memory improvement in humans. Hence, this study was conducted to investigate “mavizˮ effect on memory in university students. Materials and Methods: This randomized open-label clinical trial was conducted on a total number of 53 students of Shahed University, Tehran, Iran, from November 2017 to February 2018. The participants were randomly allocated into an intervention group (receiving “mavizˮ, 25 g in the morning for 4 weeks) or a control group (who did not
Context: Hepatitis C is one of the most dangerous viral infections causing chronic liver disease. Objectives: The current study aimed to estimate the pooled prevalence of hepatitis C in Iranian prisoners.Evidence Acquisition: Articles were identified through searching international databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Elsevier, Google Scholar, and Web of Science and Iranian databases, including Scientific Information Database (SID), Health. barakatkns, IranDoc, Civilica, and MagIran. We systematically reviewed all studies reporting the prevalence of HCV in Iranian prisoners. All studies conducted ELISA tests for the evaluation of HCV antibodies. In this study, a multilevel meta-analysis method was used to estimate the pooled prevalence.Resul
Objective: The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of Viola odorata extracted syrup on the quality and patterns of sleep in patients with depression or obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) as add-on therapy. Design: A pilot double-blind randomized placebo-controlled trial. Settings/Location: Psychiatric Clinic of Imam Hossein Hospital, Tehran, Iran. Subjects: Participants were 16–15 years of age with mild and moderate depression or OCD having insomnia. Interventions: This pilot study was conducted on patients with insomnia divided into two groups with depression (40 patients) or OCD (43 patients). Each group randomly assigned into two arms with the same conditions at baseline. The intervention arm daily received 5 mL
Introduction: Today, cancer is one of the deadliest causes in the world and one of the top three causes of death in developed countries and Iran. Due to the importance of this issue, the present study aimed to investigate the incidence of cancer registration in Razavi Khorasan province between 2012-2015 using multilevel modeling. Method: The present study is a longitudinal study. The data used in this study were extracted from the cancer registration system of Razavi Khorasan province between 2012-2015. In this study, we investigated the incidence of brain and central, bladder, lung bronchus and trachea, breast, colon and anal canal, leukemia and blood, oesophagus, ovary, skin, stomach, thyroid gland nervous system cancers. Introduction: The main purpose of this research is to design and provide a model for relationship with In-Lows based on attachment styles, personality characteristics and emotional intelligence with intermediation religious commitment. Method: The method of this research was correlation based on structural relationships (ESM). The statistical population of the study consisted of all couples aged 20-45 years old in Qom, among whom 500 were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling. Data collection tools, questionnaire, system-triangular (Cheraghi, 1393), attachment styles scale (Collins and Reid, 1996), neo personality questionnaire (Costa and McCrae, 1992), Bar-It, 2000) and the Religious Adherence Scale (Jangbzorghi, 2009), whose validity a
Aims: One of the main reasons for clinical referrals is the complaint of physical symptoms described in the latest edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) as Somatic Symptom Disorder. This study aimed to determine the fit of the structural model of the relationship between somatic symptoms disorder and stressful organizational variables mediated by self-regulatory processes in a clinical sample of patients diagnosed with somatic symptoms disorder.Materials & Methods: The statistical population consisted of all patients with somatic symptom disorder who had referred to the hospitals and health centers of police in Tehran, Iran, during the first six months of 2019. Of this population, 30 people were select
Background: Awareness of the relationship between anger and aggression in the sports performance of athletes can be useful in sports psychology to identify the sports population angrier, unable to control their anger, and in need of anger management interventions. The aim of this study was to investigate the mediating role of emotion regulation in the relationship between anger intensity and self-expression in competitive athletes.Materials and Methods: The present correlational study was carried out based on structural relationships using the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The statistical population of this study consisted of all competitive athletes (ie, all the athletes participating in any level of competi
Method: This study has a correlational research design. Participants were 495 students (59% women) from Olum Tahghighat University that recruited through convenience sampling. All the participants completed all the questionnaires in the same order: threat estimation scenarios, Vancouver contamination subscale (VOCI-C), negative-spiritual contagion subscale from Contagion Sensitivity Scale (CSS) and core disgust subscale from Disgust Scale (DS). This model was examined through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM).Results: The finding revealed that the proposed model had a good fit based on reported indices: X2, CMIN/DF, GFI, CFI, AGFI, RMSEA.Conclusion: As the present results displayed there are mediational roles for law of contagion and threa
Introduction: Parents' disregard for the provision of a psychologically and? emotionally healthy environment for adolescents and poor family and social relationships exposes children to emotional deficiencies and psychological? problems, such as anxiety. Given the importance of this topic, the present study aimed to investigate the relationship between family emotional climate and social anxiety in adolescents taking into account the mediating role of social support.? Materials and Methods: The current research was a correlational study. The study population who were selected by cluster sampling consisted of 200 male and female high school students in district 5, Tehran, in the academic year 2017-18. The employed tools in the present study
Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional-analytic study. 500 students from Tehran University were recruited through convenience sampling from six different faculties and the participants completed Perceived Vulnerability to Disease Questionnaire, Disgust Scale-Revised and Health Anxiety Questionnaire (the two latter ones used for convergent validity). The process of translation and back translation was conducted for PVDQ. After data collection, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, reliability coefficients and convergent validity were conducted by SPSS18 and AMOS20.Results: Exploratory factor analysis showed two factors:“Perceived Infectability” and “Germ Aversion”. Moreover, this two-factor model has good fit indice
Introduction: A negative cognitive schema, or cognitive triangle, follows a stressful event and sets the stage for depression in individuals. Recognizing and evaluating the cognitive triangle can pave the way for researchers to control depression. The present study aimed to analyze the validity and reliability of cognitive triad inventory used for obese people. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 150 obese people (body mass index>30) residing in Karaj, Iran, during 2019. In total, 80 (47%) females and 70 (53%) males participated in this study. After the validity assessment of the translated version of the questionnaire, exploratory (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFI) were used to evaluate its construc
